All Dressed Up!

Whilst it’s still warm out, there’s now a chill in the morning air which wasn’t there a few days ago. For us in Australia, summer is coming to an end and it’s time to start transitioning into warmer items for the forthcoming autumn months.

On that note, Cue just released new styles from their Autumn/Winter 17 campaign. It’s nice to see bright colours and designs injected into their clothing this season – it’s fresh and eye-catching and certainly differs from the standard monochrome and dark colour palettes we typically have available during the colder months. Also, for me, the vibrant hues make getting through those chilly and dreary months all the more easier!

I especially love all the floral prints; they’re so pretty and feminine. This dress in particular is my absolute favourite from the campaign. I saw it on the mannequin, loved the lotus print and had to try it on.

To be honest, aside from the colours and cute, frilly sleeves I wasn’t sure the shift-style would fit right. I thought it would look somewhat shapeless on me… but once I put it on - WOW! I loved it! I loved everything about it – the material (so soft), length (short enough to reveal some thigh but long enough to cover up, looking both sexy and classy), pattern (because flowers make me happy and the lotus floral print is unique and has been evenly positioned over the dress so, not too much), colours (so lively) and the sleeves (cute, fluted design). Plus, the dress is fully lined and has an invisible zipper at the back.

Like all Cue Clothing, it is of high quality and well-made with the zipper sitting neatly along your back. More importantly, it is Australian-made.

Like I said, my main concern was the shift-style looking too boxy and just falling shapelessly on me but, this design and satin crepe fabric tapers nicely to your shape, cinching slightly at the waist then softly dropping around your hips and down the length of your body, creating an hourglass figure. I am so happy with this dress!

Personally, I think it is the perfect dress to wear on a date with strappy heels and a clutch. It will also look stylish and professional in the workplace paired with pumps. The sleeves and length are ideal for autumn weather whereas, in the winter months it will look ultra-chic with opaque tights and ankle boots. I intend to wear it to an upcoming christening I am invited to - it’s very appropriate.

Tiered Ruffle top - February 2017

The heatwave in Sydney continues into February! Although today, the temperatures are much cooler and it’s actually raining as I write this, making this post about transitioning into Autumn very appropriate.

I wasn’t joking when I said I was obsessed with the off-the-shoulder (OTS) style and my obsession continues with this tiered ruffle top from Forever New.

The crepe material is super soft hence, the top feels smooth against your skin and drapes nicely over your body. It is also partially elasticized around the shoulders making it a very comfortable fit. Some OTS tops I have tried on have felt tight and quite restricting especially around the shoulders and across the chest but, with this top I can move about freely and easily.

Mostly, I like the tiered ruffles on the sleeves; gives the top a feminine feel. Plus (and this is the best part), thanks to the lightweight material and long sleeves you can easily transition the OTS style into the cooler Autumn months!

The top is perfect for a date night paired with a leather mini skirt and heels. Or else, you may wear it more casually throughout the day with jeans and wedges.

Beating the heat - January 2017

2017 has gotten off to a hot start, literally, with a heatwave sweeping through Sydney sending temperatures soaring to over 40 degrees Celsius in the western parts of the city on more than a few days this month. Needless to say, it has been ridiculously hot here, even at night.

On Friday 13th, the lowest temperature in the city was 26.4 degrees Celsius at about 11pm and just when you were expecting a cool change to come through, it instead got hotter reaching 31 degrees at 1am, making it the warmest night Sydney has ever recorded! On Wednesday 18th, it was 28 degrees at 5.30am and by 9am the temperature had reached 36.5 in the city. Phew, yes we are melting here! Thankfully, there has been some reprieve these past few days with cooler temperatures and some rain settling in.

I have been staying cool by remaining indoors, drinking plenty of water and wearing light, loose clothing that's comfortable. I love everything about this sexy top from Zara - the lace, crop-style, the bare shoulders.

For this look, I paired the top with my tan leather-look shorts from Sheike (which I wrote about here) as I like the navy-and-tan colour combo. It was the perfect outfit for afternoon drinks by the beach on Australia Day (Thursday 26th). I completed the look with my rose-gold accessories - this bangle (I am wearing the thicker version which has sold-out online) and these gorgeous drop earrings, both gifts from Swarovski and my new Nine West tan wedges and leopard-print clutch.

Happy Australia Day!

All the Rave - December 2016

These heels from Nine West are hands-down the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn! I have been waiting for this specific strappy-style heeled sandal to be released in a comfortable fit; in the past the heel was always too high for me!

The style is called "Rave" and aside from being very comfortable, I love the simplicity of this shoe. They really are the ideal heeled-sandal because they can be worn with any outfit, both day and night.

They're slightly shorter than the Martina style (which is the style of pumps I choose as my work shoe), making them easy to wear and walk in yet still high enough to lengthen your leg. I also love the support around the heel and ankle; my feet feel secure and steady. These heels fit perfectly on my feet and look so classy.  I can't rave enough about them! (Pardon the pun!).

I bought them in nude and black about a month ago and they have now been released in so many gorgeous, fresh colours for summer and, just in time for the party season. The print ones are my favourite (insert emoji with heart-eyes here).

I admit I may have gone a little overboard with buying this style in so many colours, as you can see, but when the shoes fits (comfortably).... I say buy them in every colour! haha

Happy holidays! Peace and joy to all.

Mon Purse Please - November 2016

Mon Purse is the go-to-place to purchase European-made, quality leather handbags and leather goods. You also have the added feature of designing your own handbags and accessories as well as customising your items by monogramming them.

From backpacks to diary covers, clutches to card holders, cross-body bags to jewellery bags, wallets to iPhone accessories even make-up bags, mon purse has a wide range to choose from.

I received this gorgeous cross-body satchel –“The Uptown” as a birthday gift and I love it! The bronze colour works well with everything so, it’s versatile and the size is practical and compact, fits all I need. The leather is high quality and the finish is seamless.
I have been wearing it everywhere; to lunch and coffee dates, movies, particularly when out shopping and I don’t want to carry my typical bigger-sized handbags which tend to weigh me down along with all the other bags I’m carrying lol! What’s more, the metallic hue and shine make it dressy and stylish for evening wear. I love that I can wear this bag with a dress or with shorts or jeans.

Mon purse leather goods will make the perfect Christmas gift for all the lovely ladies in your life.

Off-the-Shoulder Ruffles - October 2016

I am obsessed with the off-the-shoulder look and believe this style will be big this spring/summer. It's so feminine, flirty and soft yet sexy at the same time due to the show of skin on the shoulders and collarbone.

I picked up this denim-like number from Zara to wear to a mid-week birthday dinner as the weather was warm enough. I love the colour and the ruffles!

I paired it with black jeans to give it a more sophisticated and dressy look but, the top looks great with blue denims and nude heels. I cant wait for the warm weather to settle in (permanently) so I can wear it with tailored white shorts or white jeans - ultra chic.

Happy Friday everyone!

I have linked similar tops here, here, and here. Also love this here

Black and Gold - September 2016

By this point in the month you'd think you were done with the chunky coats and woolly scarves and be in blazers and tees. Not so in Sydney! Surprisingly, it is still too cool for just a blazer, but surely it's bound to warm up any time soon - preferably very soon! In any case, I have been on the look-out for the perfect transition blazer, especially one with gold-tone buttons and am pleased to say I have found one!

This black, double-breasted blazer is from Forever New and is a great buy. It’s a tailored fit so, contours to your body creating a flattering shape. It is also fully lined so, it’s comfortable to wear. The thing that surprised me most though is the quality; it definitely looks, as well as feels, a lot more than its $100 price tag.

For me, a black blazer, especially one with gold-tone buttons is a closet staple due to its classic cut and versatility. The gold buttons add an air of class and authority to your outfit as well as some flair. You can create so many different looks with this slick blazer. For example, it looks equally as good in the office paired with an A-line skirt or tailored trousers, a white shirt or cami and classic pumps or strappy heels for a professional look or teamed with jeans or shorts and a white t-shirt for casual chic.
