Crushing on Blush

Autumn is here! I am an early riser, and for the past few weeks I have noticed the sun is rising later as it's now dark when I wake up. It's also setting earlier. As the daylight hours get shorter, I like wearing light colours to brighten my days. So, for the first day of the season I wore this blush cold-shoulder top to work.

I like this pastel pink hue as it’s a light, delicate and easy shade to transition from summer into autumn. For those of you who like sticking to the staples, this top is also available in black. It’s such a sweet and feminine top with the cold-shoulder style and fluted sleeves.

The fabric is lightweight and it's a comfortable, loose fit ideal for the office or wearing out with a black leather mini skirt or jeans. Plus, the zipper doesn't run all the way down, so the top sits flat along your body and tucks in neatly.

Despite the rain and grey skies, I kept my ensemble neutral for the first day of Autumn by pairing this pretty soft-pink top with my stone-coloured skirt and taupe pumps. If you’re after a bold contrast and more striking look, you may pair the top with a black, navy or dark grey skirt or pants.

For your reference, I am wearing a size 6.

All Dressed Up!

Whilst it’s still warm out, there’s now a chill in the morning air which wasn’t there a few days ago. For us in Australia, summer is coming to an end and it’s time to start transitioning into warmer items for the forthcoming autumn months.

On that note, Cue just released new styles from their Autumn/Winter 17 campaign. It’s nice to see bright colours and designs injected into their clothing this season – it’s fresh and eye-catching and certainly differs from the standard monochrome and dark colour palettes we typically have available during the colder months. Also, for me, the vibrant hues make getting through those chilly and dreary months all the more easier!

I especially love all the floral prints; they’re so pretty and feminine. This dress in particular is my absolute favourite from the campaign. I saw it on the mannequin, loved the lotus print and had to try it on.

To be honest, aside from the colours and cute, frilly sleeves I wasn’t sure the shift-style would fit right. I thought it would look somewhat shapeless on me… but once I put it on - WOW! I loved it! I loved everything about it – the material (so soft), length (short enough to reveal some thigh but long enough to cover up, looking both sexy and classy), pattern (because flowers make me happy and the lotus floral print is unique and evenly positioned over the dress, so not overwhelming), colours (lively and pretty) and the sleeves (cute, fluted design). Plus, the dress is fully lined and has an invisible zipper at the back.

Like all Cue Clothing, it is of high quality and well-made with the zipper sitting neatly along your back. More importantly, it is Australian-made.

Like I said, my main concern was the shift-style looking too boxy and just falling shapelessly on me, but this design and satin crepe fabric tapers nicely to your shape, cinching slightly at the waist then softly dropping around your hips and down the length of your body, creating an hourglass figure. I am so happy with this dress!

Personally, I think it is the perfect dress to wear on a date with strappy heels and a clutch. It will also look stylish and professional in the workplace paired with pumps. The sleeves and length are ideal for autumn weather whereas, in the winter months it will look ultra-chic with opaque tights and ankle boots. I intend to wear it to an upcoming christening I am invited to - it’s very appropriate.

Tiered Ruffle top - February 2017

The heatwave in Sydney continues into February! Although today, the temperatures are much cooler and it’s actually raining as I write this, making this post about transitioning into Autumn very appropriate.

I wasn’t joking when I said I was obsessed with the off-the-shoulder (OTS) style, and my obsession continues with this tiered ruffle top from Forever New.

The crepe material is super soft hence, the top feels smooth against your skin and drapes nicely over your body. It is also partially elasticized around the shoulders making it a very comfortable fit. Some OTS tops I have tried on have felt tight and quite restricting especially around the shoulders and across the chest, but with this top I can move about freely and easily.

Mostly, I like the tiered ruffles on the sleeves; gives the top a feminine feel. Plus (and this is the best part), thanks to the lightweight material and long sleeves you can easily transition the OTS style into the cooler Autumn months!

The top is perfect for a date night or girls' night out paired with a leather mini skirt and heels. Or else, you may wear it more casually throughout the day with jeans and wedges.
